about

Leah Wolf, LCSW
background + experience
Hello! I'm a therapist based in the Bay Area, with roots (and clinical licensure) in DC and Maryland. I earned my MSW from Columbia University, where I completed the specialized Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training Program and Lab. Since then, I've worked with young people and their families across an array of settings, including outpatient treatment and youth detention. I am passionate about supporting folks who are navigating intense emotions, trauma, neurodivergence, identity exploration, and legal system contact. Before grad school, I was a special education case manager, which cemented my belief that every person has the capacity to grow and thrive when provided with appropriate, creative, and individualized care, support, and tools!

my approach
I offer several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailored to your specific needs:
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed: a skills-based treatment that balances acceptance and change to build capacity for regulating emotions, tolerating distress, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): an approach with a broad evidence base that emphasizes the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors - and teaches strategies for coping adaptively and transforming unhelpful patterns
-
Prolonged Exposure (PE) Trauma Treatment: helps process traumatic experiences by gradually confronting trauma-related memories and experiences in a safe, supported environment to reduce PTSD symptoms and increase freedom
-
Executive Functioning Support: creative strategies that work with your brain’s unique wiring to enhance present-moment functioning, task completion, and cognitive flexibility

my commitment
I strive to create a therapeutic environment where all aspects of your identity are respected, valued, and celebrated. In my commitment to ongoing cultural learning and to dismantling oppressive systems, I am:
-
Continuously engaged in anti-racist education and self-reflection
-
Enthusiastically affirming of all gender and sexual identities and journeys of exploration
-
Committed to incorporating neuro-affirmative practices and adapting interventions for individuals' distinctive neurocognitive profiles
-
Actively working to increase access to high-quality therapeutic care amongst underserved populations

extracurricular
Outside of the therapy space, I can be found immersed in various nonfiction books, walking in the sunshine, nurturing meaningful connections with my community, tending to my collection of houseplants, and/or savoring the joy and anthropological value of reality TV.
